Firmenich Facility Tour

Have you ever wondered how Cheetos acquire that cheesy flavor or how your bath soap gets that "Irish Spring" fragrance? Well, anyone attending the September chapter meeting gained some fascinating insights into the Flavors & Fragrances Industry.

Attendees were provided with a tour of the fragrances building at Firmenich, Inc., revealing a variety of spaces ranging from testing rooms to laboratories to perfumer's offices. It was an eye-opening experience for all to see the level of sophistication required from the building systems where air exchanges must ensure that cross-contamination from alternate fragrances does not occur and humidity levels must be adjustable to ensure that the test environment matches that of the target market. In addition to an understanding of the highly sophisticated building systems, the tour offered a unique view of the buildings and grounds of this beautiful campus.

Special thanks go to Gerry LaForge and Dennis Avello, who served as the tour guides, and Rose Greco who coordinated all of the meeting details with the chapter.
