EDUCATION
Professional Development Seminars Designed to meet
the educational needs of facility managers, IFMA's competency-based curriculum
address tasks and projects FMs perform daily. Instructors teach not only the
principles of facility management, but also how they operate in the real world.
Additionally, many local chapters hold workshops or seminars throughout the
year.
Self Study Courses Self-study
programs are designed for convenience and self-paced learning. Workbooks and
audio-tape sessions enable the busy facility professional to obtain specialized
instruction from the home or office. The programs are offered by IFMA and
ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Engineers). CEUs and CFM points are awarded for course completion.
Certification The certification
process is designed to assess competence in the field through work experience,
education and the ability to pass a comprehensive exam. Since the program began
in 1992, IFMA has certified almost 3,000 individuals. Demand for this valuable
designation continues to grow. The Certified Facility Manager (CFM) examination
has been localized for many countries and is available in several languages.
CFM Exam Review
The definitive course of preparation for IFMA's Certified Facility
Manager Exam, this review is designed to assist facility professionals seeking
certification in updating and assessing knowledge and skills related to each
competency, in order to successfully complete the exam and earn this
prestigious designation. Check the IFMA Calendar for dates and
locations.
Facility Management Professional
(FMP)
Maintain Your
Professional Growth Through the Facility Management Professional Program.
IFMA's FMP designation is a knowledge-based credential demonstrating a proven
comprehension of the basics of facility management. A springboard for obtaining
certification, the Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation can be
completed in approximately 12 months, and FMP candidates may customize their
training to build the specific knowledge they need to meet individual
goals.
Recognized Programs IFMA has developed
standards to recognize quality FM first-professional degree programs at
colleges and universities. The program initiative was designed to recognize and
encourage the strengthening of current, valid FM education degrees and assist
in the development of new FM degree programs.
